My Own Byline

Last weekend, a commenter on my previous post asked whether I'd be interested in writing a guest column for the Indian Express Sunday supplement on the first year of motherhood. Well, 'interested' is too mild a word - the idea of seeing my name in print was thrilling!

And today, the column appeared in print. I couldn't get my hands on the actual paper for love or money but a few of my friends did and have been asked to save me the copy for posterity.

For now, I've had to make do with the online edition and that's what I shall share with you guys. You can read the article here. Let me know what you think.

Disclaimer:  That is not me hiding behind that baby in the accompanying picture.

  16. Nicely written, brings back memories of the first year with these brats. YOur first year with Tarana wasn't as tough right? Completely agree with how we now remember only the nice parts and not the sleep deprivation, feeding troubles etc

  22. Wow, congrats Rohini! Loved the article, brought back some memories from that first year and now that Nikki is asleep at 10.00 on this blissful Saturday night I'm going to have me some fun instead of cribbing about the maid's no-show as I was inclined to be doing before I read your article. Here's to many more!

you are a good writer rohini. not surprising at all that the papers want you to write for them. maybe you'll write more.. Besides parenting, how about soemthing for the business papers/ magazines? You've worked in the corporate sector and i'm sure all that experience can be applied to some fine business journalism?
